Niagara Falls Tourism has won gold at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards for a one of kind collaboration with Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara!
Winners were announced at the Storytellers Gala in New York and ‘Alessia Cara – Live from Niagara Falls’ proudly took home gold for the Branded Documentary category. The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards honours content of all lengths and forms from over 50 countries and embraces all aspects of the Television and Film industries.
The hour-long TV special and media campaign debuted last summer with the Ontario-born artist and showcased new music, intimate rearrangements of her chart-topping songs, and vulnerable interviews filmed in breathtaking locations in Niagara Falls. One of the most intimate performances was created on a custom-built set at the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel, and was designed to capture the intimacy of the acoustic version of her single “Sweet Dream” which was about to be released. Additional performances included Oakes Garden, and aboard Niagara City Cruises.
The partnership between Alessia, Niagara Falls Tourism and media partner Zerotrillion was launched while travel restrictions were in place, and the combination of the scenery of the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and music sparked conversations about traveling to Niagara Falls. The result of the creative partnership aired in August across Canada, and was released internationally on her YouTube channel, and U.S. TV Outlets such as MTV and the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
